In this months edition we are chatting to Ewen from Mack Chilli. Based in Fife, Scotland, Ewen produces his own range of hot sauces and also has his own shop where he stocks a wide range of other hot sauces.
Ewen has been a customer of Sen5es for a few years and gets all his glass bottles and glass jars directly from us. In particular he uses our 150ml Worcester Sauce bottle to package his amazing range of fiery hot sauces.

Hi Ewen, thank you so much for taking part in one of our customer spotlight blogs. Please can you tell us a little about yourself and your company Mack Chilli?
Mack Chilli was started in January 2020, perfect timing just before covid but we came out the other side. We have a wide range of sauces from mild to extremely wild.
What gave you the idea to start your own hot sauce company and your own hot sauce shop?
I had been selling chilli for Grim Reaper & Wiltshire Chilli Farm since 2016. I decided to experiment. Some worked some didn’t. It’s the name of the game. I’m now known as The Satanic Scotsman & The Red Hot Chilli Fifer. Also known by other producers for pushing boundaries and making incredibly hot sauces which sell easily.
As well as stocking your own sauces I see you stock a whole host of other hot sauces and spicy products! How do you choose what to stock?
I choose my stock from producers I have met at events or a well known name in the chilli world.
What has been the most difficult part of starting your own company?
There really hasn’t been a difficult part as I already had the shop going since 2016 so used money from that to help pay for chilli and get me started.
And what has been the best part?
The best part is making sauces and being complimented on them even though I’m pretty modest about it. I would also call it a hobby rather than a job. Been self employed 15 years I learned something 15 years ago once you stop enjoying something stop doing it. So I did, I quit the pub trade took a gamble and became my own boss.
Which of your range of hot sauces is the most popular with your customers?
My most popular is the hot & extremely hot ones. Although the mild range sells well too.
And which is your favourite and why?
I have 2 favourites Oan my way to Amarillo pineapple, mango with sweet peppers & Amarillo chilli & also Auld Reekie my only original sauce from the start smokey BBQ with whiskey.
Which of the sauces that you stock from other producers is your favourite and why?
My favourite is Chilli Project Garlic Naga Pickle as very tasty and so addictive.
What inspires the flavours and styles of your new sauces?
Nothing really inspires me I just get an idea and wonder if it will work. My catering background has helped as I know what goes and what doesn’t.
What’s next for Mack Chilli? What can we expect to see this year and next?
I will be doing chilli oils & also an explosive limited edition chilli sauce with only 25 bottles called Dungeon of Doom.
Next year I plan to do more chilli festivals and events to promote my products further.
How would you rate Sen5es as a supplier? Do you recommend us to others?
Yes of course service is 2nd to none.
What would you like to see from Sen5es in the future?
Perhaps more different shaped bottles skulls etc.
