Method
Step 1: Prepare Your Jars
Before you start cooking, sterilise your jars to make sure your jam stays fresh for longer. You can do this by washing them in hot soapy water, then heating them in the oven at 120°C for 10–15 minutes.
Keep the jars warm until you’re ready to fill them.
Step 2: Cook the Blueberries
Place your blueberries in a large saucepan over low heat. Add the lemon juice and zest, then cook gently for 5–10 minutes until the berries start to break down and release their juices.
If you prefer a smoother texture, you can mash the fruit lightly with a potato masher.
Step 3: Add the Sugar
Stir in the sugar until it dissolves completely. Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a rolling boil. Continue boiling for 10–15 minutes, stirring often, until the jam thickens.
To test if it’s ready, place a small spoonful on a cold plate — if it wrinkles when pushed with your finger, it’s done.
Step 4: Fill and Seal
Remove the jam from the heat and skim off any foam. Carefully pour the hot jam into your sterilised jars, leaving a little space at the top. Wipe the rims clean, seal tightly with lids, and leave to cool.
Once cool, label your jars with the date and contents.

Storage Tips
Store your jam in a cool, dark place for up to 12 months. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and use within a few weeks.
Your homemade blueberry jam also makes a lovely gift. Wrap your jar with ribbon, add a handwritten label, or present it in a Sen5es presentation box for a professional touch.
