Welcome back! To another addition of our customer spotlight blog. The blog series where we chat to an awesome customer of Sen5es and showcase their amazing business.
In this weeks addition we are talking to Dionne over at Cakes and Drinks by Dionne. They are a small start up based in South East London. They create a huge range of cakes and drinks, all made to order. And all using our glass jars and glass bottles.
It was great to find out more about this new business and we can't wait to see how they grow. Read the full interview below!
Hi Dionne, how are you? Thank you for taking the time to chat with us for this blog!
Great thank you. It's my pleasure.
Can you please let our readers know a little about you and your business?
I have always had a great love for cooking and baking but the pandemic gave me time to bake and experiment with drinks. That's how the cakes and drinks was birthed.
You have a huge variety of products! How do you find the time to do everything?
We actually make everything to order. So when a customer puts in their order, we get to it! Some late nights as I have a childcare business that I run during the day time.
What has been the biggest challenge with setting up your business?
There has been a couple of slow moments due to the pandemic. But often times we'll be rushed off our feet. We are currently working from my kitchen at home. Which can be challenging sometimes. We'd love a commercial kitchen to use.
Which is your favourite product to make? And which is the your favourite to eat or drink?
My favourite product to make is the sundaes! They're also my favourite to eat. The pairing of the cake and the sauce is divine. I also love mixing the drinks!
Your cakes look amazing! What gave you the idea to make cakes inside jam jars?
We wanted to make something different that looks classy. But also not too messy when you eat it. I personally have not seen such a variety of cakes and sauces in jars like ours!
Your social media is full of awesome colourful pictures. How do you make them? Do you have any tips for our other customers?
We just like to take pictures of all our products and hard work. We are also lucky to have someone who helps us with the graphics and design side of things. They are efficient and brilliant at what they do!
How has the pandemic affected your business?
As I said sometimes things are a little slow as people are at home and not out and about so much. But mostly we have such an amazing supportive customer base. So we are very grateful.
What have you got planned next for Cakes and Drinks by Dionne?
Our Instagram page is slowly but surely gaining traction. And growing steadily. We would like to move our cakes and drinks in to a commercial kitchen space. As our customer base is growing and we are getting quite a lot of orders now. Especially at peak seasons like Christmas and big events. We already get orders from all over the UK and get requests from abroad. I'd like to spread that even further.
Where do you get your inspiration for new cakes and drinks?
I draw inspiration from speaking to customers, friends and family. This way I can get ideas on what people like and want. Also from my favourite treats from my home country of Jamaica.
Why did you choose Sen5es as your glass bottle and jar supplier?
I chose Sen5es as my bottle and jar supplier because the bottles and jars are great quality and they make our products look even more spectacular!
How would you rate us as a supplier? Would you recommend us to other small businesses?
I would rate Sen5es a 10/10! I would most definitely recommend you to other small businesses.
